Current News 2/2/2010

While we’re out looking for or attempting to get connected with the use of a cargo sized plane, Haiti Children Project is working with our pilots to help deliver a different kind of precious supply and that would be those dedicated medical personnel.  These folks have stepped up with their willingness to go and do what they can to aid the sick and injured.

While supplies of all sorts continue to make their way into the country; news has it that the earthquake has left more than 1.1 million people homeless. It is estimated that some 340,000 have already left the Port au Prince area.  Jeremie being one of those cities with a potential for a population influx; we’re putting the word out for anticipated items needed for the Gebeau Clinic, Gebeau and Good Samaritan homes. Based on the size and weight of some of these items, we’re more than likely going to need to ship these via that cargo plane, when we find it! In the alternative, if you (or those making the donations) have means of shipping them directly to Santiago Dominican Republic, we can coordinate getting them the rest of the way.

Mattresses, plastic mattress protectors/covers, and bed frames

Propane stoves with empty propane tanks

Dishes, cups, bowls, eating utensils

Food prep tables, pots, pans, and cooking knives

Towels, sheets, pillows, and light blankets

Walkers and wheelchairs

Storage cupboards

Lastly, if there is anyone out there between jobs or looking for something to do during the day, a volunteer is needed to help coordinate the daily activities out of our Lexington office. One of our full time volunteers maybe returning to the workforce soon and will need to be replaced.
